Conversations with Military-Connected Youth and Adults
We can't wait to hear from you. Conversations with Military-Connected Youth and Adults provide spaces for military-connected youth and adults who work with them to have virtual conversations. We will provide space to share hopes, dreams, challenges and more as we look at what's happening for teens in 2022. This is an excellent opportunity to come together virtually to talk about experiences and learn from each other.
The virtual town halls are led by peer facilitators who will lead chats around a host of topics. Teens will share their experiences and hear from others. Adults working with military-connected youth will also be working with their peers in similar conversations. Hopefully, participants both youth and adults, will feel a bit more informed and prepared moving forward in our ever changing seasons.
The CYFAR 4-H Military Partnership PDTA Project has partnered with the J.W. Fanning Institute for Leadership Development at the University of Georgia on this project. Following the series of virtual town halls this fall, we will share the collective experiences from youth and adults, identify innovations, opportunities, and challenges that have occurred, better understand the unique stressors for both youth and adults, and create recommendations for youth practice moving forward.
If you are interested in receiving advance notification as dates for facilitator training (we need both teens and adults) are available and dates of the conversations are announced add your name to the list using the button below.

Serve as a Youth or Adult Facilitator
We are recruiting youth and adults to serve on the leadership team for the town hall meetings. Youth ages 15 - 20 and adults are invited to apply for participation. Facilitators will attend orientation prior to town hall meetings and are asked to commit to facilitating at least 1 town hall session. Any youth or adult interested in supporting military-connected youth are invited to apply. Youth do not need to be from a military-connected family to facilitate and adults do not need to work with military-connected youth. The best facilitators are interested in listening to their peers, in creating safe spaces for conversations, and supporting others as they talk about their experiences. Adult facilitators will be paired with teens in the role of support and recording information from the session.

Participate in a Conversation Town Hall
Military-connected youth in grades 8th - 12th and the adults who work with them are invited to participate in one of the virtual conversations. We will offer several options for Town Halls with the same formats and questions. Participation is open to any young person in 8th grade through senior year of high school who is part of a military-connected family. We are also seeking adults working with military-connected youth as staff or volunteers, on installations, in youth organizations, and in schools. Participants will connect electronically using Zoom. Youth will participate in sessions led by teens and supported by adults while adults will participate in sessions led by an adult. Each person should be on a device as we can't accommodate groups on a shared device..
