Extending the 4-H STEM Challenge with Kim Pond, Massachusetts 4-H Military Liaison
Have you seen the 4-H STEM Challenge Kits come into your center/program and you do them and then they sit on the shelf? Do you have earlier versions from 2008-2017 when they were called National Youth Science Day kits? How can you leverage them for more programming. This session will work to show you several ways they can be used. We will review the topics covered from 2008 to the present, how to upgrade/materials with handout and add on then take time in small groups to work on a take home plan. |
Tag You're In with Amy Parrott, State 4-H Military Liaison
Most people think of games as a way to kill time until the next activity or as the last thing on the agenda. We will facilitate basic activities that require little to no supplies and will get your members engaged, excited and enthusiastic about 4-H meetings. We will introduce variations and subtle changes to basic activities that change them from competitive to cooperative. Our goal is to show how games and activities can teach concepts of belonging, team building, problem solving, communication, and goal setting. The best take-away from this workshop will be several resources that require little to NO supplies and can be applied immediately with the young people in which they work - or can even be used with staff to build morale! |
Working with PAO, Crafting Your Message with Casey Mull, Deputy Chief of Public Affairs 94th Airlift Wing, Dobbins Air Reserve Base

Working with School Liaisons with Horace Franklin, Navy CYP School Liaison Program Manager
School liaisons support, advise, and build partnerships with civilian and military communities to help address common education challenges for military-connected children and their families. School liaisons offer an array of services and resources to support children, parents, installation leadership, schools and the surrounding community. Located with each installation, school liaisons are another potential 4-H partnership. During the session, you'll learn more about the program and brainstorm ways that you can expand your partnership with your school liaison. |
